Pre-Purchase Surveys
The Pre-Purchase survey is done on behalf of a buyer. A full inspection of the following areas is carried out:

Insurance Surveys
Generally most insurance companies require a full out of the water survey prior to inception if the vessel is over 25 years old and 25ft or more in length. Depending on the insurance company a routine inspection may be required every 5-10 years. The inspection involves a full out of the water survey covering some of the same areas as the Pre-Purchase survey.
This survey should not be used when purchasing the boat as it assumes that the client already has detailed knowledge of the vessel.
Damage Surveys
This survey is commissioned by an insurance company when a vessel has suffered loss or damage. An investigation and assessment of the damage will be made and a short report written up.
